Usually a car is the first toy that comes to most parents minds, when it comes to purchasing a toy for their boy. But parents of boys that are either an only child, surrounded by sisters or have special needs, are requesting boy dolls more and more. We totally understand the need for a boy pal, that is something we all need regardless of gender.
The creator of the Fresh Dolls and Positively Perfect dolls, Dr. Lisa, never dreamed in a million years that she would become a Black Doll Maker. It wasn't until she saw the updated doll study of Black children still viewing their skin as ugly, that prompted her on this journey. She set out on a mission to change this mindset of viewing themselves as ugly or not good enough, which later leads to low self-esteem and low self-worth. This is something that shouldn't be so prominent in today's day and age.
We just want to thank Naturally Curly for featuring our Black Baby Dolls from our Positively Perfect line. It's not an easy job to create true representations and more choices for more Black girls to view in the toy aisles. But we have made it our mission at the Fresh Dolls to focus on the true goal - for all beautiful Black Girls of every shade to see their beauty reflected back to them through our dolls. This ranges from Black baby dolls to Black fashion dolls to include all age groups.
Being a Black business owner was not something that Dr. Lisa, a Black doll maker of Positively Perfect and the Fresh Dolls, set out as a life goal. After viewing one of the latest Doll Studies on how Black girls viewed Black dolls, this includes Black Fashion Dolls or Black Baby Dolls, seeing them as ugly, changed the heart of this African American college professor turned Black entrepreneur.
